5 Beautiful Islands in Africa you should visit

1. Sal, Cape Verde

Sal island is located on the western coast, sal Cape Verde is one of the most popular island destinations in Africa. Sal island most popular spot for holidaymakers because it not only cater for serious beach goers, but also those in search of something a little more unique.

It has a golden sandy beach side which sinks into cool waters to some truly spectacular natural areas which you can  explore , Sal is the place to be this festive season. There is also a lot of  history to learn at the sal island.

2.Principe, Gulf of Guinea

Príncipe is the smaller, northern major island of the country of São Tomé and Príncipe lying off the west coast of Africa in the Gulf of Guinea. 

There are whole lot of beautiful scenes at principe island and hotels are available for your long and short stays.The island is a heavily eroded volcano speculated to be over three million years old, surrounded by smaller islands including llheu bom bom, llheu caroco and the others.

There are numerous endemic species of animals on the island such as principe speirops , principe glossy starlings, principe puddle frog , oceanic tree frog etc

3.Mahe, Seychelles

Mahé is the largest island in the Seychelles archipelago, in the Indian Ocean off East Africa. Its terrain is defined by white-sand beaches such as those in the popular resort area of Beau Vallon, and granite peaks including the rainforested Morne Seychellois. The island is also home to Victoria, Seychelles’ capital, known for Creole architecture and a colorful covered market with wares like fish, fruit and clothing.

4. Benguerra, Mozambique.

Benguela Island in Mozambique is the second largest island in the Bazaruto Archipelago, which broke away from the mainland thousands of years ago. The island is approximately 55 square kilometers, and lies 14km offshore. Portuguese explorers also gave the island the name Santo António.

It an exquisite piece of Indian Ocean paradise, Benguerra Island is a luxury place to be with your loved ones.

5. Lamu Island,Kenya

Lamu Island is a port, city, and island just off the shore of Kenya in the Indian Ocean approximately 150 miles from Mombasa. It is a part of the East African country of Kenya. Lamu was founded in the 12th century.

Lamu Old Town is the oldest and best-preserved Swahili settlement in East Africa, retaining its traditional functions. Built in coral stone and mangrove timber, the town is characterized by the simplicity of structural forms enriched by such features as inner courtyards, verandas, and elaborately carved wooden doors.

Lamu island has  beautiful, historic buildings, which you can  tour this areas is to start your exploration. There is Museum is here, offering an introduction to the island’s rich history and architecture.
