A lot of people face different types of abuse growing up. It leaves them in pain and agony for a very long time. Most of these people transfer their anger to others due to what they’ve been through at the hands of their abusers.
Others also get over it and try to become good people in society. While other victims turn out to be threats to society or the community, this may be termed a long-term effect of abuse.
Abusers who inflict pain on their victims might have also gone through the same experiences, hence passing them on to other people. Imagine a child growing up with parents who always fight and argue every now and then.
They see their father hit their mother, and their mother hurls insults at their father. Because of what they saw growing up, they feel it’s okay to hit a woman or to retaliate against a man. They grew up and practiced it because that was a daily thing they saw growing up.
Abuses are very alarming, and even though they cannot be totally stopped, they can still be controlled or avoided. Let’s look at some types of abuse and their effects on individuals.
Physical abuse occurs when someone is attacked with objects or by the abuser’s own hands. The abuser may use weapons like knives, cutlasses, sticks, or even everyday items like irons. They may also resort to punching, slapping, or forcefully hitting the victim’s head against a wall.
The abuser could also pounce on the victims and create bruises on them. They sometimes pour hot substances on the victims.
This type of abuse is caused by a lack of emotional attention by the abuser. Instead of showing how much they love and care about you, they would rather you beg for their love and attention.
They sometimes show more love to another person instead of you. The abuser makes sure to starve you of their love and act like they don’t care anymore. This kind of abuse could come from parents, families, spouses, or even friends.
This is abuse where the abuser tries to extract money from you, and your failure to comply will make him or her release your hidden secret. Here, the abusers do not only take money but might also ask you to do something against your wishes.
The abuser threatens to expose you. It also takes your freedom away from you because you wouldn’t have the freedom to be at peace with yourself.
Words are powerful and strong. Sometimes the words we use toward people can leave them in a depressed state. This type of abuse occurs when the abuser keeps using vulgar words against the victims.
Every chance they get, they insult, curse, and belittle the victim. The abuser also uses words like you’re not pretty, lazy, poor, ugly, etc. on the victim.
It is one thing not to have money to buy food, and it is another to be starved of food. This kind of abuse occurs when the abuser starves the victims of food for so many days as a form of punishment or lesson.
Some abusers could starve victims in this situation due to certain circumstances. Either they assume the person has stolen from them, they’re not their biological child, or it’s just an act of wickedness.
This is a type of abuse where the abusers have an unconcerned sexual relationship with the victims involved. They threaten the victims not to tell anyone else; something bad will happen to them. This kind of abuse sometimes comes with physical and emotional abuse.
When the victim tries to deny giving in, the abuser tries to hit them and force them into giving in. Sexual abuse may include rape, fondling, oral sex, involuntary recording of sex tapes, and prostitution.
Kidnapping is the act of holding someone in your custody against their will to demand a ransom or inflict pain on them. Kidnappers are dangerous people who abduct innocent people and demand a huge amount of money from their friends or family. Kidnappers, when they get a victim in their custody, might end up having canal knowledge on them. Most Kidnappers abduct their victims to demand money, or they use the victim for money rituals. However, when the demanded money is not sent, they end up killing their victims.
This may lead to physical, emotional, and mental trauma for the victim involved. There have been a lot of Kidnapping cases where the victim, after being released, goes to therapy for some time so as to get back to their normal life. The victims involved may have fear for their fellow humans and might not want to associate themselves with other people.
The act of maltreating a child, causing so much pain and taking away joy and happiness from him or her, is termed as child abuse. It comes verbally, emotionally, mentally, and physiologically. When a child’s rights are forcefully taken away from them by an abuser, it makes them prone to timidity.
Starvation, sexual, verbal, emotional, and domestic abuse all constitute child abuse. Overburdening a child with house chores with no rest, unnecessary beating, and preventing the child from going to school also fall under child abuse.
A lot of children are going through this kind of abuse, either by their parents, guidance, friends, or teachers.
Growing up in a home where parents are always seen fighting or arguing can be very disturbing, especially when there are kids living in the house. In the case where Daddy is always hitting Mummy with objects or beating her, or Mummy is always abusing Daddy with vulgar words, it can be a bit frustrating for children.
The rate of domestic abuse has become so high that parents are getting divorced or separated every now and then.In recent times, couples who are threatened by their spouse end up committing murder. Due to the fact that they do not want to oblige each other,
Domestic abuse or domestic violence has many implications on a child or children living with parents who are involved. The child or children become unhappy, always sad, and even lose concentration at school.
These are the types of abuse I would want to talk about, but there are a lot more. Any activity that is against the will of a person can be described as abuse. And an abuser should be reported to any trusted person who can help.
Anyone going through abuse should make sure to confide in someone and seek help. Abuse is an offense that is against the law and must be attended to.
