Portuguese football icon, Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentina legend Lionel Messi made headlines on social media when Ronaldo made a comment about the MLS league where Messi is currently continuing his football career as Inter Miami CF player.
Ronaldo and Messi have been compared to each other for the past decade in the world of football, in terms of personal achievements, records breaking, and trophies just to mention a few.
There is always contention between the fanbase of one of the greatest players in football history. Messi had his unveiling at Inter Miami CF which had over 3.5 billion views, this record superseded that of Ronaldo’s unveiling view of over 3 billion views. This became a topic for discussion on social media with Messi’s fanbase trolling Ronaldo’s fanbase.
However, this became intense when Ronaldo made a comment about the MLS league which triggered Messi’s fanbase to voice their opinions on social media concerning the statement made by the five times Ballon d’Or winner.
In an exclusive interview, Ronaldo shared how he has to be criticized for leaving European football to join Saudi League, but in the end, many players are now signing to play in the Saudi League. According to him, he has paved the way for other players to join the Saudi league.
“My decision to join Saudi clubs was 100 percent crucial to bring in new top players. It’s a fact.
When I joined Juventus, Serie A was dead and then after I signed… it was revived. Wherever Cristiano goes he generates higher interest.” He said.
Speaking further he said,
“Saudi League is better than the MLS. I’m 100% sure I won’t return to any European club. I opened the way to the Saudi League and now all the players are coming here. “I won’t return to European football, that door is completely closed. I’m 38 years old, also European football has lost a lot of quality. “The only league for me that has a lot of quality and is at a higher level than all the others is the Premier League.”
