Nigerian artist, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, aka MohBad, who was a former signee of Marlian record label reportedly died on Tuesday at age 27.
Music executive Ovie shared the sad news on his X page on Tuesday evening. “Confirmed. MohBad is dead. Sad, sad day,” he posted.
Meanwhile Nigerian rapper, Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Olamide shared a cryptic message on his X handle.
“Damn! MohBad (sic)” In another tweet, Olamide posted, “This life (sic)”
The management of late singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, aka MohBad has released an official statement confirming his passing away.
The short statement posted on both his Instagram and X handles said ” It is with great sadness that we confirm the passing of Promise Oladimeji Aloba PK/A MohBad (Imole) today, the 12th of September, 2023.
“MohBad was light until the very end, and as we mourn the loss of the brightness he carried, the family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time”.
The cause of MohBad death is not yet known, however, a shocking revelation made by his friend Shmurda earlier resurfaced on the internet, which has now gotten the attention of many social media users.
Shmurda in the interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo in January, disclosed that MohBad was suicidal.
According to Shmurda, the late singer dealt with depression stemming from the end of his contract with Marlian Music owned by popular artiste, Naira Marley.
Shmurda said, “I do not want to say this but I will. I and Mohbad were in an apartment when he suddenly said he felt like jumping from the floor we were on, downstairs all because of the issues he was having with his label.
Speaking further he said “It was his girlfriend who came to alert us that he was at the edge of his window and was about to jump to his death.
“Anything that will make anyone attempt to take their own life is extreme and when it does happen, these people will join the many tweeting RIP.”
