On the 5th of April Stonebwoy and Shata Wale happen to have been billed to perform on the same show at Nima on the SalahFest show.
Rumors surfacing on the internet are that Stonebwoy refused to perform just because Shatawale was also performing at the same concert.
Upon hearing this Shata Wale got furious and was unable to keep to himself, took to social media to express his furiousness about Stonebwoy refusing to perform because he was also on the same show.
Shata Wale’s furiousness led him to say things about Stonebwoy’s disability which got the attention of many Ghanaians. Many social media users reacted to Shata Wale’s statement about Stonebwoy’s disability with everyone disagreeing with Shata Wale always using the Dancehall artist’s disability against him.
“You are a bad person that is why God made you a disabled person, you are a disabled person don’t try and fight an able person” This is the statement Shata Wale made concerning Stonebwoy’s disability.
However, the Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled GSPD has also shown their concern about Shatawale’s comment on Stonebwoy’s disability to the extent of publishing a press release statement cautioning Shatawale that using a person’s disability to mock him is a punishable offense by the law.
“Using a person’s disability to mock him or her or making derogatory remarks about a person’s disability is a punishable offence by law, refer to the Disability Act 715”
They also advised Shatawale to retract his statement and delete the circulating video from social media and Apologise to all persons with a disability.
“The GSPD takes exception to this statement and asks Shatta Wale to retract the statement, remove such video from social media, and apologize to all persons with disability and Ghanaians”
The GSPD also raised a concern that a section of Shata Wale’s fans could also be persons with disability and he did not consider the feelings of such fans before mocking Stonbwoy with his disability.
“We want to remind Shata Wale that a section of his own fans who are making him who he is, are persons with disabilities. Did he think how they will feel? Or Shatta Wale think he has made it so he does not care?”
