Ghanaian actress, producer, and TV personality Sika Osei expressed her concern about how difficult it is to make contact with Netflix.
The Ghana movie industry has been facing many ups and downs for some time now, which has seen many movie producers and certain actors and actresses making a conscious effort to promote the industry to higher platforms, to get larger audiences to have access to their movies.
Currently, the movie industry depends on YouTube for views and to the extent it’s the sole source of revenue, the truth is how much is a producer going to get from YouTube and talk of paying actors and actresses?
Due to this many producers have now focused on streaming their movies on high-standard streaming platforms such as Netflix.
However, Ghana actress Sika shared her concern about some of the challenges the Ghana movie industry faces. According to her YouTube is great but to even get the views that will then accumulate and convert to revenue is a whole problem.
“YouTube is great, but to be able to even amass a hundred thousand views two hundred thousand views to get 500 hundred dollars, to even say I am going to give you one dollar” she lamented.
She also lamented that having access to people on Netflix and proposing your movie or craft to them is very difficult because some producers have contact with Netflix but will just not allow other producers to get through the gateway to have access to Netflix
“Because that one producer can’t afford to create all the contacts needed for Ghana to be well represented on the platform [Netflix] or will not allow other producers to get through the gate.” She added.
