Ghanaian dancehall artist Theophilus Nii Aday Otoo, popularly known as Epixode, has expressed his love for the deceased dancehall artist Mustapha Rahman popularly known as Rudebwoy Ranking at the 24th VGMA.
During a highly anticipated live performance, Epixode proudly wore a stained white shirt with blood, igniting a wave of curiosity and speculation among the audience and viewers online and at home.
The stained shirt worn by Epixode holds profound symbolism linked to the late Rudebwoy Ranking. Choosing to perform while wearing a shirt stained with blood demonstrates the enduring power of love and is evidence of the special bond he had with Rudebwoy Ranking, who has since passed away.
However, in performing his hit song Atia Donko, he quizzed the audience about whether they were wondering why he stained his shirt. ”You wonder why I stained my shirt with blood; this is for Rudebwoy Ranking”.
A gesture that took the audience on their feet to appreciate Epixode for the love he exhibited. Also at the end of his performance, he said, “Rudebwoy, RIP. I love you”.
The Reggae Dancehall Artist was crowned the Reggae Dancehall Artist of the Year at the 24th VGMA and did not hesitate to dedicate it to Rudebwoy Ranking.
However, the Reggae Artist of the Year, Stonebwoy, also dedicated his award to Rudebwoy Ranking. “Shout out to Rudebwoy Ranking may your soul rest in peace”. He said.
