iOS 15 features overview
The iOS 15 promises big things. With major changes coming to Notifications, iCloud, Photos, the camera, maps, and more, these features are worth highlighting.
Big updates for FaceTime:Maybe this is the time for me to enjoy FaceTime. This is an app I hardly use, and with the new changes, I believe the video calling platform by Apple will be a spotlight in iOS 15. Apple is introducingSharePlayto FaceTime. iOS 15 users will be able to share music, movies, web pages, apps, and more with anyone, they’re calling with FaceTime. Picture it like this: Although you are sharing your Netflix movie with me, I can forward, pause or stop the movie from my end. iOS 15 will add spatial audio to make the sound feel more natural, Portrait mode to blur the background, and focus on you in FaceTime. FaceTime also makes its debut on all Android devices.
Redesigned Notification Panel:The notifications panel on iOS 15 has been redesigned to give it a fresh look. Larger app icons and contact Photos have been added to notifications to make them easily identifiable. Apple has also added a notification summary to help sort all your notifications in a prioritized manner. With this, you can receive a summary of all your notifications at a preferred time rather than getting alerts every time you are working.
Focus Mode:The Do Not Disturb mode in iOS 14 has been updated in Focus mode. iOS 15 users will now be able to set a profile to automatically filter notifications, based on what you are currently doing. You can now choose a Focus mode for work, personal time, sleep, fitness, mindfulness, gaming, reading, or driving. This way, you are going to receive only notifications you are allowed to receive based on your current focus. Your Focus will notify iMessage contacts about your current focus when they try sending a message to you. “Driving, call back later.” Here is how to use Focus Mode in ios 15.
New Updates in Messages:Apple is bringing a new section calledShared with Youin corresponding apps to help you keep track of all contents shared with friends over Messages. Articles, songs, videos, web pages are now simple to find when forgotten. Shared with You will be available in Apple News, Photos, Apple Podcasts, Apple TV app, Apple Music, and Safari. Apple is also introducing a glanceable collage for pictures sent over Messages.
Safari:Apple’s default browser Safari, will also be getting a fresher look in iOS 15. Like Google Chrome, iPhone users will now be able to group tabs in Safari. Safari will also get a bottom tab bar and group syncing which can be accessed across multiple devices. Apple will also enable voice search and add additional web extensions to the iOS 15.
Live Text:iPhone users can now try thelive textfeature on their iPhones. Like Google Lens, iPhone users can now copy, paste, and lookup, and translate texts from photos taken directly from the camera. Live Texts work well with screenshots too. Again Apple has also addedVisual Lookup.Allowing you to get information on an object to which you are directing your camera. The object can be a building, an animal, a plant, or an art.
Maps:Maps on iOS 15 is getting a new 3D interactive globe to help iPhone users “discover the beauty of the earth” in Apple Maps. Maps also feature-rich details for mountain ranges, deserts, forests, oceans, and more. You can now see skyscrapers in Maps.
Rich Results in Search:The new iOS 15 features rich search results for searches on contacts, actors, musicians, movies, and TV shows.
Find My:With the new features of the FInd My on ios 15, you can now track and find your missing iPhone even when it’s off for up to 24 hours. You can also use Find My to locate your device after it is been erased. To help ensure that nobody is tricked into purchasing your device, the Hello screen will clearly show that your device is locked, locatable, and still yours.
