A group of travel enthusiasts in Accra, Ghana, eagerly gathered for a journey to London, driven by their shared dreams and aspirations.
A journey that was scheduled to take off in July 2020 was shelved because of the COVID which resulted in the lockdown of many countries.
The group consisted of Saka, Fred Papa Kwofie, Richard, Kwame Prepah, Kofi Preprah, Kwadwo Prakah-Asanate, Franklin Peters and his son Quincy, Joseph, Cyprian Ed, Kwabena Ayirebi and his brother Kojo and Serwa the only female among them.
Together, they embarked on a remarkable journey with vehicles including Landcruiser, Raptor, Defender, G63, and RX350. They made all the necessary checks on the vehicles before taking off on the journey.
According to Kwabena Prepah, the idea was to get auto marketing companies to sponsor their trip by providing a vehicle for them, and own the media output for their promotions.
They, however, approached Kantanka to sponsor the trip so that they could promote “Made in Ghana” but unfortunately, the CEO of Kantanka did not meet with them to listen to their proposal.
The road from Ghana to London started on 23 July 2023 and was not easy, filled with challenges and breathtaking scenery.
On average, the group traveled 800 to 900 kilometers each day.
By Friday, August 4, 2023, the Kwabena Prepah and his group had crossed five African nations—Cote d’Ivoire, Mali, Senegal, Mauritania, and Morocco—arrived in Europe via the Mediterranean ferry at Algeciras, Spain, and then traveled by car to Barcelona through Valencia.
The journey was not without its obstacles. They faced mechanical issues with the vehicle, endured heavy rainstorms that threatened to halt their progress and navigated through unfamiliar territories. They faced difficulties at the borders of some countries but also smooth cross over in some countries with no difficulties such as Morroco. However, every challenge only strengthened their bonds and determination.
