How To Automatically Close Tabs On Android

Do you remember the last time you had to flip through different tabs on your Android phone just to look for something you recently opened in the browser? How was the experience? Was it fun, frustrating, or interesting? Do you think if you could close all tabs automatically on your Android it would be helpful to you? Let us know in the comments section below.

Instead of going through different tabs clearing them individually, I am going to show you how you can automatically close tabs on Android. Unlike most computers where you can easily see the tabs you have opened without even opening the browser, mobile devices operate differently.

Mostly, you may open a tab and then close the browser itself to do something on your phone, and when you come back you will just open a new tab. When this piles up for a long time, it can sometimes be annoying.

Because of that, you need a way you can easily close tabs without having to delete them individually. The browser we will be using for this exercise is the Mozilla Firefox mobile browser. That sounds cool, right? Let’s jump into it.

How To Automatically Close Tabs On Android

Here is how to close all open tabs from my Android Phone browser

  1. Download and install the Mozilla Firefox app from the Google Play Store

  2. Tap on the menu icon (three-dot menu) in the top right corner

  3. Select Settings from the menu

  4. Choose Tabs

  5. Select the period (After one day, After one week, or After one month) that the tab should be closed after being inactive

Now that’s all it takes for the tabs to automatically close. This means that once the tab is inactive for the selected period you chose, it will automatically close thereby saving you the time of flipping through different tabs.

Currently, most of the other mobile browsers do not have this feature but as and when it becomes available we will make sure you are updated and informed.
