Black Sheriff Emerges Victorious: Court Dismisses Contract Breach Allegations From Cruise People LTD.

Ghanaian musician Black Sheriff was arrested at Kotoka International Airport upon his return from an European tour on Wednesday 19th July 2023. The arrest was due to a cruise ship musical performance booking Black Sherrif for their event in Greece.

The cruise company claims Black Sheriff’s agency did not perform their part of the contract, despite taking large sums.

According to Daniel Vandapouye, the CEO of the Cruise, after the initial payment of 20,000 dollars, the Cruise decided to do a because they can’t go ahead do an event without media bliss, in view of this they requested a five to 10 seconds video of the artist confirming that he will be performing at that event but Black Sheriff and his team refused to do so, which led to the suing of Black Sheriff.

The complainant demanded 50,000 dollars instead of the initial 20,000 dollars, leading to further disputes and threats. Black Sheriff was arrested upon his return to assist in the investigation.

However, yesterday on the 16th of November 2023, the High Court at Adenta struck out the lawsuit, stating that the dispute resolution clause specified the United Kingdom as the exclusive venue for settling such matters.

The court ruled that the subject matter was not closely connected to Ghana, emphasizing the parties’ intention for dispute resolution in the UK.

Consequently, there is no pending suit against Black Sherif, and if Cruise People Ltd. pursues the matter in the proper forum, Black Sherif’s team plans to counterclaim the full contract sum, interest, and damages for breach of contract.
