Black Sheriff Responds To King Promise Winning Album Of The Year.

At the 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, “5 Star” won the “Album of the Year” category, giving King Promise his second VGMA of the evening.

Nominees in the category included; Black Sherif (The Villain I Never Was), Sarkodie (Jamz), Gyakie (My Diary), King Promise (5 Star), Kwesi Authur (Son of Jacob), and Joe Mettle (The Kadosh).

Black sheriff who was a nominee in this category had so much confidence that he was going to win this award. In an interview with Zionfelix, he disclosed that he is definitely winning Album of the Year with his debut album (The Villain I Never Was).

Unfortunately for him, he lost it to King Promise. Social media users reacted to this incident with many expressing their disappointment that the proliferation of awards schemes in Ghana has become a norm.

Many have also voiced out that, King Promise’s win was a well-deserved recognition of his incredible talent and hard work since he has been making waves in the music industry.

In an interview on The Day Show with Berla Mundi, the newly crowned artist of the year shared that he was not disappointed with King Promise winning the Album of the Year. 

According to him, he loves the “5 star” album. On account of that despite the fact that he was just waiting for his name to be mentioned for the winner of the Album of the Year he was not disappointed.

He was however quizzed by Berla Mundi about whether he was disappointed or not. “I was waiting to hear my name, but when my name wasn’t mentioned, I said, yawa. If I felt like the one who won the award doesn’t deserve it, that is when I will feel some way. But everyone in the category deserves the award. They have all put in much work.” He responded.
