How to create a Google calendar event from Gmail Message Desktop, iPhone & Android 2022

Google has made it possible to add events to your calendar without breaking a sweat. Gmail allows you to add events to your Google calendar and receive automatic reminders on your iPhone, Android, or desktop based on a Gmail Message received containing an event. Today, we will look at how to use an email message received to generate a Google calendar event.




How to Create a Google Calendar Event From Gmail Message Desktop

To schedule an event from an email received:

  • Open the message in Gmail and click the three-dot icon on the toolbar located on top of the Email subject. Click on create an event to open in Google calendar.
  • Google uses the subject of the email to name the event. You can also customize the email to suit your preference.
  • Select a preferred Date and time to receive an alert. Note; when the email contains a time or a date, Google will use that Date and time to set the event for you, unless customized to a preferred choice.
  • Click on Join with Google Meet to schedule if the event is a virtual meeting.
  • Add a location for the event.
  • Set a notification to remind you of the event. You can choose to receive event notifications via email or push notifications to your desktop.
  • Set a color for the event, and indicate whether you are free or busy during the period.
  • Click on Save to save the event to your Google calendar.

How to Add Google calendar event automatically from Gmail iPhone & Android

When using a Google calendar on a Smartphone: iPhone and Android, Google automatically reads and adds events to your Google Calendar based on an email received on your Gmail account. Google will automatically notify you when the Date and time for the event are due. You can do this by enabling the option for Gmail to read and add events to your Google calendar.

  • Open your Google calendar. Tap on the 3 bar menu icon and select Settings.
  • Tap on Events from Gmail.
  • Toggle on to activate Show events from Gmail. Gmail will automatically create events that will be displayed on your calendar. This will help you keep track of things like flights and other reservations.

Note: To get events from Gmail, you must also turn on smart features >> personalization in Gmail settings.
