You’ll agree with me that “The Sound of Music” was one of the best movies we loved watching growing up. It was a movie to cheer us up when we were sad and put smiles on our faces when we were angry.
The characters made the movie very interesting and brought out the dynamics of the purpose of the movie. It made us so glued to the screen that we didn’t want to miss a single scene.
The Sound of Music, an American musical film that was first released on April 1, 1965, held the record for the greatest box office for five years. Its musical and dance contents were so entertaining.
I bet you wouldn’t believe how grown-up the characters are, especially the little ones among them. The movie turned 58 years old on April 1, 2023. Here are the pictures of the characters in recent times

2. Christopher Plummer As Captain Von Trapp
He played the difficult father figure of the seven children in the movie. He later fell in love with Maria. He received three Academy Award nominations, and for “Beginners” in 2012, he ultimately took home the best supporting actor prize.
He received his Oscar at the age of 82, making him the oldest performer ever. Plummer most recently appeared in Rian Johnson’s “Knives Out” in 2019 alongside Chris Evans and Ana de Armas. He died on February 5, 2021, at his home in Connecticut.
3. Charmain Carr As Liesl Von Trapp
She played her role at the age of 21. She was the eldest of the Von Trapp children and was sixteen years old in the movie. The actress had no experience in music or acting. At the time, she was working as a physician’s assistant.
After The Sound of Music, she starred in only one movie. She married, gave birth to two kids, and decided to stop acting to focus on and take care of her family. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Carr’s family said on September 18, 2016, that the actress died due to complications from a rare form of dementia. She was 73 years old.
4. Nicholas Hammond As Friedrich Von Trapp
He was the second eldest and the first son of the Von Trapps. He played the role at the age of 15. He was born in 1950.

He fought fires with the forestry services and later volunteered to drive supply trucks down to southern Oregon to fight fires sweeping across the state and California in 2020. The 72-year-old Duan lives in Seattle, Washington, and works as a computer software analyst and designer for civil and mining companies.
7. Angela Catwright As Brigitta Von Trapp
In the movie The Sound of Music, Brigitta was the fifth child of the Von Trapps. She played her role so well, had an amazing voice, and was a brilliant character. She acted in the TV series “The Danny Thomas Show” in the 1950s.

The 64-year-old actress traveled to Paris to pursue her studies in art history and modeling after receiving her degree from the University of Southern California. Philippe L’Equilbec was her spouse, and she returned to the US after being married. She did, however, take a long break from performing to raise their child.
