Ghanaian actress, broadcaster, and entrepreneur Naa Ashorkor have shared her opinion on the storyline of the Ghana movie industry.
Ghana’s movie industry known as Ghallywood has been a source of entertainment to Ghanaians since its inception, showcasing the cultural heritage and the talents of Ghana.
Content plays a pivotal role in movies that mostly attract viewers’ attention. Meanwhile, failure to meet certain standards in storytelling risks losing viewership and revenue, as well as the industry’s reputation.
However, in the past years, the quality and the standard of Ghallywood have been questioned by many viewers. Both local and international audiences believe that Ghanaian movies contain poor storytelling.
Naa Ashorkor who is also an actress sees the content of Ghanaian movies from a different perspective.
In an interview with Kojo Sheldon, the TV Host briefly shared that, when it comes to storytelling Ghanaians are amazing. Ghanaian authors are innovative and creative in storytelling, mostly involving their audiences in the story to make it feel original.
“Ghanaians are great storytellers I have seen Ghanaian films that have left me feeling like I was really in there. There are Ghanaian films that when I watch I feel a part of it, I feel the emotion that the director is trying to elicit from the viewer. I know a film is good personally when I am able to feel like I felt it”.
Speaking further, she said, “So in terms of quality storyline, picture, and acting I think Ghanaians have got it, I think our industry has got it and if we get the right investment, we will be able to do so much than our competitors”.
