The digital address code or Ghana Post GPS address has become a fundamental requirement for every Ghanaian when filling forms in Ghana. Ghana Card, Passports, Government services, SIM card registration, and even Job applications now require individuals to submit their digital addresses or GPS address of their current location before their applications are processed.

What is the Digital Address Code or GhanaPost GPS address?

The GhanaPost GPS is a global addressing system that assigns every 5×5 square meter property a unique address known as the digital address.

The digital address makes sure to capture every square inch of land available at every location in Ghana. With this addressing system, every land property is given a permanent address in Ghana. So far, the Ghana Post GPS has helped in providing unique addresses for some 7.5 million properties in Ghana.

What is the difference between digital address and GhanaPost GPS address?

Well, your GPS address code is the same as your digital address code for your location. Although it is used interchangeably, the only difference is that the digital address is the actual address of your property. The GhanaPost GPS is just the name of the technology being used to deploy these addresses.

How to get digital address code for my current location

Time needed: 5 minutes

Download and Install GhanaPost GPS from Google PlayStore/ Apple AppStore.
Launch the app and accept all the permissions to continue.
Enter and verify your Phone number
Enter your Name, DOB & gender to continue
Congratulations your Ghana Post account has been activated.
Note: You can skip the registration by tapping on the skip button below.
Once your account is activated, you will be redirected right to the maps, Tap on Get Address to generate the digital address code for your property.
Once the GPS address has been successfully generated, you will find the digital address code for your property at the bottom of the screen. Tap Save address to save location address.
Note: To ensure the app captures the right address for your property, kindly turn on location services on your Phone.

What does my digital address mean (eg. GA-591-9130)?

There are two essential components to a digital address. The Postal code (GA591) and your property’s unique address(9130). The first letter G which stands for the region(Greater Accra). Followed by A, which is the district (Ablekuma-North). The next three(3) digits represent your area code(591). Together with the regional, district, and area code forms the postcode for that area (GA591). The last four(4) digits (9130) represent the unique address of the property.

If I forget my digital address how do I get it back?

If you forget your digital address and you want to recover it, you will have to download the GhanaPost App, Type in your location and regenerate your digital address again.

Door-to-Door delivery: The digital address can be used to facilitate door-to-door delivery when keyed in on eCommerce sites. Order items online and they will be delivered right to your doorstep when you use your GPS address.
