How to link your SSNIT card with your Ghana card

The Social Security and National Trust (SSNIT) with the Ministry of Employment and Labor has announced that starting from Monday 28th June 2021. You will be able to link your SSNIT card to your Ghana Card.




The Minister of Employment, Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, highlighted the ministry’s commitment to cutting down the days for processing and payment of benefits to its members to an “average of 10 working days” when the merger of these cards is complete.

Therefore, it is very important to get your cards linked. This is because soon, only the Ghana card will be the only means of identification for all contributors in other to be paid your benefits. Linking your Ghana card to your ssnit card is now easy using USSD.

Time needed: 3 minutes

Here is how to merge or link your Ghana Card to SSNIT with Shortcode

  1. Dial short code *711*9# on your phone.

    On your phone, Dial USSD Shortcode *711*9# to begin.

  2. Select Option 1 which states that you want to merge your NIA and SSNIT numbers

    Choose option 1, which is merge your Ghana Card with your SSNIT number

  3. Enter your 13-digit SSNIT number, then enter your Ghana card number.

    You will be required to enter your SSNIT number to continue

  4. A message would pop up with your name.

  5. Select Option 1 to complete the merging of your SSNIT and Ghana card numbers.

  6. A message then pops up which tells you that the merger process is ongoing. If the process is successful, you would have a message sent to your e-mail.

    You can also check your merger status after linking your cards when you dial *711*9#. Then select option 2

How to merge your SSNIT Card with Ghana Card on The SSNIT website

  • Visit the SSNIT website here
  • At the top menu, click on My statements, you will be required to create an account or log in first
  • On successful Login, you will be redirected to the “My statements page”
  • Click on Merge my NIA number,
  • Accept the terms and conditions and click on submit and continue
  • Enter your NIA number and submit to complete the merger.
  • You will receive a message after successful linking of Ghana Card to SSNIT.
