In the Ghanaian community, the overhyped go-to breakfast that can sustain you for hours and give you the energy and strength required for your work is millet porridge known as Hausa Koko.
Hausa koko is a breakfast that can go with any accompaniment, such as koose, bread, buff loaf (bofrot), or even koose bread. You can add milk or groundnuts when taking it to add more taste. It has a lot of benefits, and it is the most common breakfast to get whenever you’re late for work, school, or a very important meeting.
Many Ghanaians have made a lot of income in diverse ways just by selling Hausa Koko. Some have their own package, like the Koko King. Others tie in white poly bags in sieves for patronage during traffic, while others have stands with a lot of people surrounding them for patronizing.
Indeed, Hausa koko with koose, bread, ball loaf, or even koose bread has saved a lot of people against hunger and time. Such as ministers, workers, churches, event organizers, students, and even babies.
Even though Hausa Koko is mostly sold or bought outside, mothers can also prepare it at home to feed their families. It is cost-efficient and helps save some extra coins compared to buying it outside. Here are some benefits found in the ingredients used in preparing Hausa Koko.
Millets, as a whole grain, are abundant in protein, antioxidants, and essential nutrients, offering a wide range of potential health advantages.
The potential health benefits of ginger, stemming from its anti-inflammatory and anti-nausea properties, are extensive. Ginger has the capacity to aid in weight loss, provide relief for arthritis, alleviate menstrual symptoms, and offer a range of other health advantages.
Cloves, the fragrant spice derived from dried flowers of the clove tree, were once as valuable as gold in the world of spices. Originating from the Spice Islands near China, they made their way to Europe and Asia during the late Middle Ages, becoming a staple in regional cuisines.
Nowadays, cloves continue to be a beloved spice, imparting that unique and flavorful touch to a wide array of dishes.
