Previously, sellers would connect with their buyers by creating Facebook groups.

Facebook has now created a large community where buyers and sellers can engage and buy products. You can now buy and sell with ease on Facebook Marketplace. Items for sale on Facebook marketplace ranges from Electronics, Vehicles, clothes, etc. Meanwhile, Items like Animals, healthcare products, and services cant be sold on Facebook Marketplace.

What is Facebook Marketplace

According to Facebook, “Marketplace is a destination on Facebook where people can discover, buy and sell items. People can browse listings, search for items for sale in their area or find products available for delivery”.

Facebook Marketplace is available in 37 African countries, Namely; South Africa, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, etc., with Ghana joining the long list this year. You can only see available items in your local community. Thus, if you are in Ghana, you can only browse through listings that are in Ghana. Although Facebook does not facilitate payments on Marketplace, it recommends that payments on Marketplace are either by cash on delivery, person-to-person payments, or electronic payments. The idea is to get you connected to your seller/buyer and work out the details after seeing their products on social media app.

The good thing about Marketplace is that it’s free to publish your listings. Sellers will get an insight into how well their listings are doing and also promote them using Facebook Marketplace ads. Additionally, You will also get to interact with your buyers and sellers through chat. Also, your items are open to everybody in the Facebook community in your country.

How to sell on Facebook Marketplace Desktop 2022

Sign In to your Facebook account.
On the left menu below your profile, click on Marketplace.

Click on Create New Listing.

Choose a listing type for your item. Select from Items for Sale, Property for Sale, Vehicle for sale & Job Opening.

Add photos to your listings by uploading pictures from your computer.

Fill out the information about the listing in the boxes provided.
Click Next to submit the listing to Marketplace. NB: if the Next appears to be greyed out, fill all the required boxes first and try again.

How to sell on Facebook Marketplace App or mobile 2022

If Facebook Marketplace is available in your local community, here is how to sell on the Facebook Marketplace app.

Log in to your Facebook account.
Facebook Marketplace icon should display on the top menu; Facebook automatically hides the icon if not used for some time.
Tap on the 3 bars at the top right corner to expand Facebook Menu and select Marketplace to display the listings available.

Tap on Sell to open the listing items. Choose from Items for Sale, Property for Sale, Vehicle for sale & Job Opening.

Tap on Publish to submit the listing to Marketplace. NB: if the Publish appears to be greyed out, fill all the required boxes first and try again.

Sign in to your Facebook account.
Click on the Marketplace icon and browse through the items.
Filter and search through the listed items and select what you wish to buy. Note: Items listed are items closest to your location.
