Ghanaian highlife, and songwriter, Fameye made a shocking revelation on the reason why he transitioned from rap songs to singing.
Fameye started his music career as a rapper and had a number of hit rap songs. However, Fameye’s artistic journey took an intriguing turn as he gradually incorporated singing into his musical repertoire.
He effortlessly proved his mettle as a vocalist with his emotions-stirring melodies and heartfelt lyrics. This transition allowed him to tap into a wider range of emotions and musical expressions.
The success of this transition is evident in Fameye’s winning the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Highlife Artist of the Year in 2020, and Highlife Song of the Year in 2021. Again, his rising popularity and the widespread acclaim he has received also attest to the success of his transition.
Meanwhile, in an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, the “Nothing I Get” hitmaker made a shocking revelation about his transition.
He unveiled that, he mostly forgets his rap songs and on many occasions during an interview, he struggles to rap his written rap songs. Due to this condition, he decided to make the calculated risk transition from rap to singing.
“With rap music, I can’t say anything, I have to come prepared for rap music and I give it to the people. Because I don’t remember my raps, trust me. “He said.
“Anytime I go on the radio and they play my beat I hardly rap, I can’t, I don’t remember my raps at all, but with singing I can remember all the lyrics.
Speaking further he added that rap did not have any positive impact on his music career, he see no advantage in doing a rap song but cautioned upcoming rappers to still do rap songs if they feel they are good at it.
“Rap did not have any positive impact on my life. We have a lot of good rappers coming up, they should rap, if you are good at it and you feel very comfortable why not” He added.
