Ghanaian comedian, Richmond Amoako publicly known as Lawyer Nti has shared how he has been battling depression for the past 3 years.
Lawyer Nti has been making waves in the comedy industry for the past years, with his glamorous sense of humor. He is well known for his unique blend of English and Twi which gets his audience’s jaws filled with laughter.
He is popularly known for the famous Kejetia vs Makola Comedy TV series, where he acts as the lawyer for Kejetia.
The comedic TV series features two types of attorneys. Both a group of highly qualified attorneys from Makola and a self-described group of lawyers from Kejetia who advocates for their respective clients. Lezer Legacy Productions is the show’s producer.
However, in a recent interview with 3music the famous comedian shared that he has gone through a series of depressions which led him to visit places (Vodoo)
According to him, it got to a point where he felt like with the exposure he has gained across the nation he should accomplish certain things in life like his own house, car, and money to enjoy.his became a burden to him and caused a series of thoughts.
“For the past three years, I was very depressed. I was just at home, and if when I am called for an interview I don’t attend. Because I have in mind that where I have gotten to I have to get certain things in my life like a car, house, and money because of the exposure I have gained. But because such things were not coming, it got me thinking so much”. He said in Twi
But it was rather unfortunate that he realized it was not all about money, all he needed was to have a connection with himself and God. Since he was unable to have a connection with himself and God he went quite a number of Malams.
Sharing further he said, “As human when you need something, and you realize that, you can’t get this thing, you go to someone who knows what you looking for, because you need help.
I got to a level I felt like I need a particular money to make my life better. But I realize what I need was to get connected to myself and God. Because I was not getting what I wanted I walked a little bit.”
