A group of Ghanaian travel enthusiasts, including Saka, Fred Papa Kwofie, Richard, Kwame Prepah, Kofi Preprah, Kwadwo Prakah-Asanate, Franklin Peters, Joseph, Cyprian Ed, Kwabena Ayirebi, his brother Kojo, and Serwa, embarked on a journey to London with vehicles including Landcruiser, Raptor, Defender, G63, and RX350.
The journey began on July 23, 2023, and took an average of 800 to 900 kilometers per day.
By August 4, 2023, the group had crossed five African nations, arrived in Europe via the Mediterranean ferry at Algeciras, Spain, and traveled by car to Barcelona through Valencia.
Despite facing mechanical issues, heavy rainstorms, and unfamiliar territories, the journey strengthened their bonds and determination.
The group aimed to get auto marketing companies to sponsor their trip and own media output for their promotions.
However, according to reports, they approached Kantanka to sponsor the trip so that they could promote “Made in Ghana” but unfortunately, the CEO of Kantanka did not meet with them to listen to their proposal.
Meanwhile in an interview with Berla Mundi the CEO of Kantanka Automobile, Junior Kwadwo Safo debunked the claim made by Kwabena Prepah a member of the group of the expedition.
“I called an emergency meeting yesterday, and I have worked with these people for quite some time now and I know them, if someone gets a certain blunder they would just call me separately and tell me CEO, I am the one the group contacted. But they didn’t contact anyone on my team”. He explained.
Kwadwo Safo shared that he had no idea of the group contacting him or his team likewise his team members. He shared that he only got to know about the expedition on Saturday 5th August 2023.
“I only got to know about this expedition on saturday, and was I marveled because I have not really been out there lately I was not feeling too well so I just some time off to rest and get better, so currently I don’t have any idea of the expedition.” He said.
He added that if he had any idea about it he would probably sponsored by giving out to two cars and would have joined the expedition.
“If you know me very well aside being the CEO I love cars I love driving so if it was something that even Kantanka was going to be on, trust me I would probably have selected two cars being in one and probably given one to another person”.
