If We Have Been Reading News From GhanaWeb Then We Are Doomed As A Nation – Sarkodie Speak Over False News On GhanaWeb.

Renowned Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has recently expressed his concerns about the proliferation of false news on the popular news website, GhanaWeb. The artist’s statement comes in the wake of a recent event, Tidal Waves,

In a post, Sarkodie raised his voice against the alarming rate of misinformation published by GhanaWeb, which says that “Sarkodie’s manager, AngelTown storms stage to stop Stonebwoy’s performance at Tidal Rave”

The Tidal Waves event was a highly anticipated showcase of Ghana’s music talent, featuring artists like Stonebwoy, R2Bees, and Sarkodie.

However, controversy ensued when news began circulating on the internet that Stonebwoy had exceeded the allotted performance time. It was in response to such news that Sarkodie took to X to voice his concerns about the reliability of GhanaWeb.

Sarkodie’s post,  on his X handle, criticized the credibility of GhanaWeb as a news source. He asserted that relying on the platform for news and information would be detrimental to the nation.

“If we’ve been taking our news from these sites then we know we in trouble as a nation”.

This post sparked a discussion on social media, with many users joining in to share their own experiences regarding false news published on the website.

Sarkodie’s post found support from various quarters, including Ghanaian Youtuber Kojo Sheldon, who agreed with the rapper, emphasizing that “misinformation be too much.”

The sentiment was echoed by other social media users, such as @gh_lentiz, who pointed out that GhanaWeb seemed to lack thorough fact-checking and simply posted anything that came their way.

The prevalence of false news and misinformation is a global concern in the digital age, and Ghana is no exception. With the ease of sharing information online, it has become increasingly important for news platforms to exercise diligence and accuracy in reporting. False or misleading information can have far-reaching consequences, including damaging reputations, inciting public outrage, and eroding trust in the media.
