Apple in their Springfield event a couple of days ago announced their new lost item finder called AirTag. AirTag is a small tracking device that can be attached to important items such as keys, wallets, phones, or even your bag. This device will pinpoint the exact location of your items in the event that you misplace them or they go missing.
AirTag will be Apple’s most affordable gadget, with prices ranging from $29 to $99 for the entire set of products. To use AirTag, you must have an iPhone. This is due to the fact that AirTag can only be used in Apple’s first-party “Find My” app.
“We’re excited to bring this new capability to iPhone users with the introduction of AirTag, leveraging the vast Find My network, to help them keep track of and find the important items in their lives,” Apple’s vice president of worldwide iPhone Product Marketing said.
What is AirTag?
AirTag is a water- and dust-resistant “small lightweight” product. It includes a speaker to play a sound if you can’t find your item quickly. It is powered by a CR2032 replaceable battery with a one-year battery life. Pairing AirTag to iPhone is the same as pairing AirPods to iPhone; simply bring your AirTag close to your iPhone and it will detect and connect. You can then give that device a name, such as ‘keys’ or ‘jacket’.
How to Use the Apple AirTag
When you finish configuring your AirTag device with your iPhone, it will appear in the ‘Find My’ app under the new items menu. However, if you misplace your item or it goes missing, you will find it in the last known location on the map. AirTag locates your item using your Bluetooth range and can play a sound to assist you in finding it. You can also ask Siri to assist you in locating your AirTagged item.
AirTag includes support for the accessibility features built into IOS. Precision Finding using VoiceOver, for example, can direct users who are blind or low-vision to AirTag with directions like “AirTag is 9 feet away on your left,” Apple said in a statement.app
