It’s Not A Sin For A Christian Or Pastor To Sing Secular Love, Songs-Sonnie Badu

Ghanaian gospel sensation Sonnie Badu has recently stirred discussions across news and social media platforms with his candid remarks on the relevance of listening to secular love songs.

In a memorable interview on the Onua show hosted by Nana Ama Mcbrown, the renowned “Wonder God” hitmaker shared his nuanced perspective on the impact of certain secular love tunes and their role in inspiring romantic relationships.

Badu’s viewpoint resonates with a refreshing openness, challenging the conventional perception within religious circles regarding the consumption of secular music, particularly love songs.

He expressed his belief that certain secular love songs hold genuine depth and significance, citing their ability to relate to real-life experiences and emotions, thereby influencing and inspiring romantic connections between partners.

The artist underscored the imbalance he perceives in solely relying on worship songs to kindle romantic relationships, emphasizing that love songs have their place not just in contemporary culture but also in biblical narratives. Badu pointed out that love songs are not a foreign concept in the Bible, highlighting the presence of such themes within its verses.

Moreover, Badu drew attention to influential figures in Ghanaian music, notably mentioning the legendary Amakye Dede, whose music has been a source of inspiration since his childhood. He credited Dede’s artistry and stagecraft as influential elements in his musical journey, acknowledging the guidance and advice received from Amakye Dede.

Despite his role as a pastor, Sonnie Badu openly admitted to embracing certain secular love songs. He debunked the misconception that his religious position should restrict his musical preferences, asserting the importance of being authentic and acknowledging the diversity of influences that shape an individual’s artistic sensibilities.
