Lasmid speaks about his debut performance at the 24th VGMA

Ghanaian musician Lasmid finally speaks about his debut performance at the 24th VGMA, regarded as the worst performance of his music career.

Lasmid, a rising star with a captivating voice and afrobeat and highlife blend, generated buzz and high expectations for his performance at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards since it was his first time.

Regrettably, his performance failed to meet the expectations of the audience, this was attributed to factors such as technical difficulties and lack of preparation affecting his stage presence and overall performance.

His performances sparked a discussion on social media, with some fans condemning him, and others claiming that live performances are sometimes imperfect and that musicians should be applauded for mounting the stage. Yet, others believe that the performances fell short of expectations.

In an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, the “Friday Night” hitmaker shares his experience after the performance, and how he reacted to the comments on social media.

He also shared that, the planning was good but it just didn’t happen according to how he and his team wanted it.

“What we wanted wasn’t what we got, my team and charterhouse planned the performance, so you see the idea was very nice it just didn’t happen the way we wanted”.

“It is normal to plan something, and when the time comes and the thing starts messing, and sometimes you wouldn’t realize it is messing up until you are done.” He said.

He also admitted that he was the poor performer on the 24th VGMA, according to him, he felt okay after his performance until he took his phone and realized his performance was rated as the poorest.

He was however asked by Andy Dosty how he was able to manage the pressure and comments from social media.

“There were a lot of comments, I just had plenty of comments and all of them were bad, but I felt like its okay, because if they don’t criticize you, you wouldn’t remember your mistake, I just learned one or two things”. He stated.
