The news of crafty con artists has attracted the public’s attention recently after several white-collar crimes where individuals with a talent for persuasion plan complex ideas to dupe trusting corporations.
Such is the story of a man called David Aseye Tay, managing director of Renaizance Oil Limited who has been arrested for scamming Dr. Nick Danso Adjei and his company.
It is alleged that Mr. David Tay is a con artist who establishes relationships with companies and later exploits the trust built between him and their unsuspecting partners.
News circulating on the internet is that David built trusted relationships with Dr. Nick Danso Adjei and promised to supply his company with crude oil, and collected a huge sum of money from Dr. Nick’s company and since 2018 to date the crude oil has never been received.
According to Nick, Mr. David Tay him scammed 27.9 million Ghana cedis in 2018.
David’s fraudulent actions may have had a devastating effect on the businesses he targeted as well as many people who may have suffered significant financial losses.
The case has been lingering in the judicial system for an extended period, leaving Mr. Adjei yearning for a resolution. Dr. Nick has prepared all necessary documents and witnesses for the court.
However, David, the alleged con artist confidence grew, and also claims that he has also prepared the necessary documentation and he is ready to present the case even to the supreme court. Both parties submitted all the necessary documentation to the Criminal Division of Court of Accra High Court.
During the process of finding justice, David’s trial revealed the intricate details of his deceptive schemes and the impact on the victim, Dr. Nick was laid bare. David was found guilty and was convicted on multiple counts of fraud.
The case was however adjourned to 29th May, to give the necessary punishment to David for involving himself in scamming companies and taking huge amounts of money.
