Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie joined in on a trending discussion about the CEO of Ghana Export Promotion Authority spending GH 100,000 on a 3-minute video documentary about her management.
This alleged news was posted on X by an account named Ghana Crimes, which also cited that the contract was awarded to Yaw Pare.
An invoice from Yaw Pare Photography reveals that GH 100,000 was used to produce a 3-minute video documentary promoting Ghana’s export potential.
The payment breakdown includes GH 55,000 for editing, voice-over, animation, soundtrack, and intellectual work, GH 35000 for drones, cameras, sound, and lighting gear, and GH 10,000 for accommodation, food, and transport.
The invoice, dated March 10, 2019, shows that the total amount remained at First Atlantic Bank, East Legon Branch. It is unclear, however, when the short video promoting Ghana’s export potential will air.
The post gained attention from social media users with the majority doubting the stipulated amount used in a 3-minute video to the majority of them it is outrageous. Nevertheless, few believe that it is not outrageous and could even cost more than the stipulated amount.
However, Ghanaian voiced his opinion on the discussion and offered a conditional defense stressing the fact that when it comes to the space of the creative industry it is very expensive. He revealed that only his tour announcement video was close to the stipulated amount.
“Don’t Know the details and if there’s evidence that she lied then that’s a problem but if people are doubting a 3 minutes doc could cost that much, they y’all need some education……my tour “announcement” video not doc or music video was close to that amount (of course camera, concept etc., will play part) our space (creative industry) is very expensive”. He shared it on his X account.
