Photos: Cape Coast Stadium in a deplorable state

The Cape Coast Sports Stadium in Ghana used to be a proud place for sports, especially for the Ebusua Dwarfs football team. But now, it’s not doing well, and people are getting concerned. This stadium, which was built with help from China, is not in good shape, and it might cause problems for the African Games that are set to start on March 8, 2024.

The Cape Coast Stadium was a big project, and China gave about $30 million to help build it. Ghana also chipped in with $3.35 million. However, over time, the stadium hasn’t been taken care of, especially the playing field.

Back in 2017, some soccer authorities warned that the stadium shouldn’t be used for non-sports events to protect the playing field. Sadly, these warnings were ignored. Now, the once-green field has hardly any grass left. This is a big concern because it’s tough for players to do well on a field like that.

The bad condition of the Cape Coast Stadium is not just a problem for the African Games; it’s also affecting the Ghana Premier League. The field is not good enough, and this might make the games not as enjoyable.

Cape Coast is supposed to host some games during the African Games. But, with the stadium in such a bad state, there’s a big worry. The people in charge are worried that the stadium might not be ready for the important games. This is a big problem for the African Games, and it’s not clear if Cape Coast Stadium can be a good place for the matches.

The Cape Coast Sports Stadium, once a happy place for sports, is now in a bad state. People are urging those in charge to fix it quickly so that players can enjoy their games, and the African Games can happen without any problems. It’s time for action to bring the Cape Coast Stadium back to its good old days.
