Galaxy unpacked is an event hosted twice a year by the global Samsung electronics brand; where they usually showcase their new line of products including, devices like their smartphones, tablets, and wearables (smartwatches and fit bits).
This event was first held in March 2010 in Las Vegas and is now mostly held in Barcelona and New York. People all over the world are also able to watch the whole program via a Livestream on YouTube. Last year, Due to unfortunate circumstances from the birth of the COVID, the event was held virtually, where it attracted over 50 million global viewers.
The Galaxy Unpacked event usually includes keynote presentations for the new products Samsung wants to launch; which is usually headed by the management figures in the company. The exciting part is that Samsung gives the attendees the chance to visit the various exhibits and have a live hands-on experience of the products that will be launched, but then again due to the COVID the event is set to be virtual this year too.
For this year 2022, the Samsung unpacked event is set to take place on the 9th of February at 3:00 pm, or 15:00 GMT. Samsung has already hinted at the release of their new S series, the Samsung Galaxy S22 series which also has a noteworthy quality. Rumors have also hinted at the release of a new tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8.
Samsung is also set to launch their new chipset, the Exynos 2200 which will be featured in the Galaxy S22 series, mostly for the ones to be released in the African Market. While talking about the Galaxy S22 series, Samsung said, “With this smartphone, the night is yours to capture with the best and brightest photos and videos — and you’ll also dominate the day with revolutionary power, speed, and tools. It’s part of the smartest Galaxy experience yet, delivering cutting-edge innovation throughout the Galaxy ecosystem while also blazing new trails with sustainable materials”.
The slogan for this year’s unpacked event is: “Break the rules” of what’s possible. Will they really be able to break those rules? The Samsung franchise has been and is still a popular brand in the Ghanaian market, being rivaled by only a few other flagships like the iPhone and Google’s Pixel. Will this be the breakthrough they need to finally break that comparison? As Samsung said, it’s not just about setting a standard. It’s completely rewriting the future of smartphones.
