Somewhere in 2021, Samsung decides to discontinue the production of their infamous Galaxy note series. This was after the release of the Galaxy Note 20 series. The Galaxy Note was one of Samsung’s biggest creations and had some of the best sales yearly together with their Galaxy S series. Why then did they decide to discontinue the Note series?
The Galaxy Note series initially became popular because of its impressive display quality and huge screen size (the first Samsung Galaxy Note came with a stunning 5.3-inch display as of 2011). The fact that it also came with the stylus gave it a huge plus. The Note series went ahead to become one of the most popular smartphones in android history and also played a critical part in changing the notion that phone users did not want phones with large screens especially seeing how these days most of the Ghanaian youth are obsessed with playing games and watching movies on their phones.
Over the years Samsung went ahead to make bigger screens and more improved quality displays in their subsequent note releases. This trend did not go unnoticed by the other smartphone flagships though, as they also realized how people were going in for the note due to their phone size and started making bigger phones too. This went for Samsung Media itself. They began increasing the sizes of their Galaxy S series and even their new A series too.
After the lunch of the Galaxy Note 20, Samsung said they didn’t release the Note 21 the following year because of a semiconductor shortage but later, a new report came from ET News which said that Samsung would cease the production of their Note 20 and did not release any other line of Note series after that.
Samsung was rumored to have stopped the production of the infamous Galaxy Note series because the lure of their big screen and display was not unique to them anymore since other flagships had started that line of production too. Also, Samsung wants to put more of their focus on their new line of foldable devices like the Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold series, given that they seem to be the future of smartphones.
It seems like Samsung’s soon-to-be-released Samsung Galaxy S22 ultra will be a hybrid between the Note series and the S series so we can’t say the note series has truly died, can we?
