The Android operating system (OS) has evolved over the years, adding a few relevant things like screen record. A few years ago, one of the main things that iOS users used to tease Android users was the ability to record their Android phone screens.
Soon afterward, several third-party apps were developed to help Android phone users record their screens, with the logo and watermark of the developers. Even that, iPhone users still did not spare Android users the teasing.
Fast forward in subsequent years, newer models of Android devices now have the built-in screen recorder and this guide is going to show you how to screen record on Android.
NOTE: The steps we are coming to use in this article will work for only newer models of Android devices(from android 8, 9, 10, 11 users) and not every version of Android. So, to be sure, you can search on the internet to see if your device supports it and then follow the steps below.
How To Screen Record on Android 8, 9, 10, 11

On most Android devices, the screen record button is not in Quick Settings. Therefore, we have to add it there first. To add the screen record button to Quick Settings and screen record on Android, follow the steps below.
- Swipe down twice from the top of your screen
- Tap on the pencil icon or the three-dot menu icon and select Edit Buttons
- Locate Screen Record, tap and hold, and then drag it to the top area and then release your finger to drop it there
- Tap the left-pointing arrow to go back
- Now open the screen you want to record
- Swipe down your screen from the top
- Tap on the Screen Record tile
- Select whether you want to record audio, and or show touches on the screen by toggling it on or off
- Next, tap Startto begin the recording
- Finally, swipe down from the top and select Stop under Recording Screen to end the screen recording
That’s it, you have now successfully recorded your screen. It will automatically be saved to the movies or screen recording folder on your device
