Hello, my name is Mary, and welcome to digital marketing tutorials in 2 minutes. Today, we will look at 3 important tips to increase the SEO of your small business.

This week let’s check out how as a small business we can use SEO in our digital marketing journey. SEO is basically the art and science of making web pages appealing to search engines. The greater the SEO(search engine optimization) on your small business website, the more likely your website appears on search engines when keywords from your website are being searched on google and other search engines.




A well-optimized website has a higher rank on the Search Engine results page (SERP). One thing to note is that the closer you are to being on page one of the Search Engine results page (SERP) you are on your way to receiving a lot of attention for your products, services, and blogs as people website find your website on various search engines.

Here is how to increase the SEO of your small business website 

Create XML Sitemaps for your small business Seo

In other to rank higher on (SERP) you would need to create and submit XML sitemaps. Sitemaps are a list of information and files on your website which allows search engines like google, yahoo, bing to reference or crawl your website. You can use free tools like Yoast, screaming frog, and XML sitemap generator to create a free XML sitemap for your website and submit using the google search console. Use Right amount of Keywords/ Keyphrases

In other to win SEO for your small business in 2021, you must use the right amount of keywords or keyphrases for the website. Use free tools like Google trends and google keyword planner to find the right keywords for your website. Whenever you are about to add a webpage make sure the headline and the post contain the right amount of keywords or key phrases that are ranking for your targeted keyword. For example, if we want to add a product about red cars to our website, we may use Google Trends to check the volume of red cars that have been queried. Google trend will also give us a relatable keyphrase like red cars in Accra; this will give us a fair idea of what users are searching for, with the right amount of traffic.

Build a great user experience for your small business website.

To increase SEO for your small business, you need to add enough illustrations and videos to help customers understand your products or services. This way, customers will stay longer on your website, hence reducing bounce rates on your website for Google to rank your website higher. Also, remove distractions such as plenty of ads to help customers have a good experience on your website.
