The winner of TV3 Talented Kidz season X, trainer Gilbert Owusu, also known as Vokers GH, explained in an interview on 3FM how the dance sensation Abigail Adjiri is able to dance to the tune of music with her condition of hearing impairment.
Abigail Adjiri, a 7-year-old kid, made headlines and received recognition from Ghanaians when she won the 14th season of TV3 Talented Kids.
She garnered many audiences because of her spirit of resilience and her unique way of dancing to the tunes of songs without hearing the lyrics.
Many people have questioned how a hearing-impaired youngster could listen to music and execute her dance steps so flawlessly after her astounding performance and historic triumph on Talented Kidz.
Meanwhile, in an interview, her trainer explained that individuals facing the same condition as Abigail feel the vibrations of songs in order to dance with them, which is possible when the song is loud.
“They go with vibration; when the song is loud, it goes with the beat, and the beat controls the song itself. So when the beat kicks with a more high tempo, that is where she feels that something is vibrating, so she feels it everywhere “.
He also shared that during rehearsals he has to calculate the dance moves for her in order to follow the tune, this is mainly to prevent her from dancing off-beat.
“We start by calculating the steps and the kicks in the song. When rehearsing, the dance moves are supposed to be calculated; you can’t just dance raw”.
“She can read my lips, and when I am training her, I train her front, back side, and side so she has all the angles. When we move to the right, we calculate it. Okay, we go here 4, and in the front, we go here 4. So always, any song that drops she knows or thinks it is a calculated something, so she is supposed to go according to what she is thinking in mind”. He further explains.
