The anti-LGBTQI+ bill was passed on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, criminalizing LGBTQI+ activities and prohibiting their promotion, advocacy, and funding.

Under the bill, individuals engaged in such activities face a jail term ranging from six months to three years, while promoters and sponsors could be sentenced to three to five years.

Kubolor

Emmanuel Owusu-Bonsu publicly known as Wanlov the Kubolor shares an intriguing opinion about the bill that was recently passed. He made a statement that garnered him support from many social media users.

He emphasized that Ghanaian politicians due to pursue for the bill to be passed and make it a law has diverted the focus of Ghanaians from what they expected from politicians which is their work to make the country thrive.

Speaking further, he added that to him he sees this passing of the bill as a business strategy from private individuals who own prison facilities.

This is because those who fail to abide by the law will find themselves in prisons, at the end of the day whoever has invested in establishing private prisons is going to benefit from it.

Kubolor

According to Kubolor, imprisoning gays or those who advocate for gays is a way of making money for those who were the pioneers of the bill.

“The movement that the MPs are doing to push the bill, is a way for Ghanaians to remove our eyes from the real work they are supposed to do.

“At the same time, I see it as a business opportunity, because that Pentecost prisons that they have established, right now if they should start imprisoning gays, and the advocates, abusers, the only person or body that will benefit from this law is those who have established prisons.”

“I see it as a group of people have plan to farm a certain group of Ghanaian, imprisoned them and get money from it and at the same time it a means of getting a free labor from those who have been imprisoned”. He stated.
