People with autism are usually looked down upon in society due to their medical conditions. But in this series, people with autism are given a different role in society, as the main character Dr. Shaun Murphy (played by Freddie Highmore) is a young resident at San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital.
Due to his condition, his colleagues find it difficult to socialize with him, but they are gradually learning how to get close to him and how to interact with him. Also, he uses his special abilities to treat his patient and prove his worth to his colleagues and supervisors.

Apart from the hospital, this series also focuses on the personal lives of the doctors, nurses, and other hospital staff. Chicago is seen as a violent city, but Chicago Med also tries to portray the beauty of the city of Chicago.

The Resident is a series focused on a group of young practicing doctors face and nurses who face the realities of modern-day medicine and issues as they learn the ropes with the help of a seasoned senior resident.
The main character Dr. Conrad Hawkins (Matt Czuchry) is a doctor who goes the extra mile to sometimes “screw” the protocol for their customers. Almost all the characters in the series play supporting roles as their story also affects the series.
