“TV Presenter of the Year”, Akrobeto Nominated For My Africa Influence Awards

International recognition has been bestowed upon Ghanaian veteran actor and comic Newscaster Akrobeto, also known as Akwasi Boadi, for his humorous delivery of “Real News” on United Television. Ghanaians enjoy his contagious manner, which has earned him the TV Presenter of the Year title at the forthcoming My Africa Influence Awards.

Akrobeto is the only Ghanaian nominee in this competitive category, representing his country on the continental stage and competing with American-based South African-born TV star Trevor Noah.

Akrobeto nominated for the TV presenter of the year will be competing against thirteen other renowned presenters from across the continent, including Bassem Youssef from Egypt, Cheick Yvhane from Ivory Coast, Ebuka Uchuendu from Nigeria, and Dingindaba Buyoya from Zambia.

As the anticipation builds toward the awards ceremony on December 17, 2023, at Abidjan, Ivory Coast, Ghanaians have taken to the internet to support their favorite presenter.

Beyond Ghana, Akrobeto’s popularity has spread throughout Europe thanks to his lighthearted sports reporting, an accomplishment that few African hosts have accomplished.

He has been highlighted on the Twitter accounts of German clubs Augsburg and Dortmund, while Russian team Spartak Moscow utilized his video to market their next match.

Akrobeto and his Real News program have gradually outgrown the Ghanaian audience, becoming a program that attracts interest from global football fans.

The veteran actor has become a meme god, with his funny way of pronouncing football team names and waggish style of announcing match results circulating after every European match week.
